Referring to my despatch No. 60 of the 7th instant with enclosures,

I have the honour to enclose translation of a despatch I have since received from the Viceroy, which affords a friendly basis for the settlement of the question.

I presume His Excellency the Acting Governor does not wish to do more than maintain the inviolability of British territory, and will be satisfied with an apology.
